The large living room dominates the main floor of the house under its giant palapa and traditional wood beams. The rich slate tile floor offsets the bright colors of the artwork, accent walls and the comfortable but elegant furnishings. A built-in bar makes entertaining very simple. For casual breakfasts and smaller lunches and dinners there is a granite-topped table for six under the palapa on the terrace. The main floor has an elegant powder room with a custom made, traditional “lavamanos” sink with marble trim. A special feature of the
main floor is the “studio”. This quaint room with its L-shaped leather sofa, oriental rug, huge coffee table, desk and built-in media cabinetry, is lined with old maps, antique posters and a huge mounted sailfish—all of which evoke a cozy, 1930’s feel. The room has a view of the cactus garden and the sea. It houses the TV, satellite system, VCR and DVD player as well as the controls for the sound system which has speakers in the living room, studio and master bedroom. The studio is air conditioned and has high speed internet access.
